NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT:
National Darkroast Day Trading Cards

July 2008 - A series of National Darkroast Day promotional trading cards are now in development. The series will include five cards illustrated by the DC Conspiracy, a Washington DC-based illustration group. The cards will be viewable through the NDD website and offered at promotional book events. Two of the illustrations are complete.

 
January 2008

January 19 - National Darkroast Day was displayed at the third annual DC Counter Culture Festival on January 19, 2008. The event included approximately 40 Washington DC-area artists of comics, fashion, books, visual art, and jewelry, as well as musical performances by local rock n' roll, hip hop, and punk music bands. More than 400 people attended the event, with coverage by the Washington Post, DC Express, and numerous blogs and message boards.

December 2007

December 19 - A humor column with a sidebar about National Darkroast Day was published in Current magazine, a medical publication based in Seattle, Washington. View the Column in Current Magazine >

December 4 - National Darkroast Day displayed at the National Center for Higher Education (NCHE) Holiday Arts and Crafts Show in Washington DC on December 4, 2007. Approximately 24 vendors and 200 attendees participated in the event.

November 30 - The December/January newsletter of Page and Palette, a premier independent bookstore in Fairhope, AL, featured August Adams and National Darkroast Day in "What I'm Reading." View the Dec/Jan P&P Newsletter Issue >

October 2007

October 20 - Page and Palette Book Signing: August Adams signed copies of National Darkroast Day at Page and Palette, a premier independent bookstore in Fairhope, AL on October 20, 2007. The event was publicized through P&P's print and online newsletter, which has a circulation of 20,000 readers in the Alabama Gulf Coast area.

October 19 - The Coffee Loft, a popular coffee shop in Fairhope, AL, begins selling National Darkroast Day. A book signing is expected for a future date to be announced.

October 10 - Emory University's DC alumni chapter held a book club discussion group with the author of National Darkroast Day at the Busboys and Poets coffeehouse in Washington, DC on October 10, 2007 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

June 2 - National Darkroast Day displayed at Glover Park Day festival in Washington DC on June 2, 2007. More than 80 vendors and 1,500 attendees participated in the event.

April 2007

April 26 - World Intellectual Property Day Celebration: August Adams signed and distributed copies of National Darkroast Day and discussed his book at the Association of American Publishers (AAP) showcase booth during the World Intellectual Property Day Celebration on April 26, 2007 in Washington DC. The event was attended by more than 200 people and featured showcases from the movie, music, and video game industries, as well as U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez as the special guest speaker.

April 18 - National Darkroast Day reaches #53 on Amazon's Hot New Releases in Action/Adventure Books.

March 2007

March 26 - Amazon sales rank for National Darkroast Day reaches #12,000.

March 21 - National Darkroast Day released and announced.
